Humans have a general desire to belong and to love, which is basically satisfied within a relationship.

Relationship Meaning

“Sense or state of being related, specifically of romantic or sexual – it’s a state of connectedness between people (especially an emotional connection).

Interpersonal Relationship

Interpersonal relationships are formed around the context of social, cultural, and many other influences.

Social Relationship

Social relationships are commonly known as the relationship between two, three, or more individuals who are members of a social group. Such a relationship forms the basis of social structure.

Without further delay, let’s take a tour around our major focus which is an intimate relationship.

An intimate relationship can simply be seen as an interpersonal relationship involving physical or emotional intimacy.

It’s commonly a sexual relationship but can also be a non-sexual relationship involving family, friends, or acquaintances.

The beauty of such a relationship is that it allows a social network for people to form strong emotional attachments.

Physical Intimacy In a Relationship

Physical intimacy is basically characterized by romantic love, sexual activities, or other passionate attachment.

It has to do with touching erogenous zones, cuddling, eye contact, holding hands, and kissing.

So then, what’s emotional intimacy?

Emotional intimacy basically involves feelings of liking or loving one or more people which may result in physical intimacy.

It has to do with love, which is rationally satisfied within a relationship.

Types of Relationship

The types of relationships is placed based on the following;

  • Business and professional relationship:

Such a relationship involves employer-worker relationships, co-workers, contractors, customers, landlord and tenants, and so on.

  • Membership in a social group:

Since a social group consists of two or more humans who interact with one another, sharing similar characteristics and collectively having a sense of unity, there’s bound to be a relationship.

It could be the relationship of household members (examples – single person, family, stepfamily, extended family), peer group members, organization members, community members, and intimate (cohabitation, committed relationship) relationship.
